Japan to try GPS phones to prevent pandemics

Just recently, Softbank Mobile, Japan’s biggest cell phone carrier, signed a deal with Aoyama Gakuin University to provide iPhone 3Gs to 1,000 students to keep tabs of their attendance via the phone’s Global Positioning System. The company now has a plan to equip the same amount of elementary-school students with GPS phones.

The Nokia plant in Jucu (Cluj County, northwest of Bucharest) expanded its cell phone assembly production, switching also to assembling phone accessories such as bluetooth sets, holsters or chargers, announced Nokia Romania director John Guerry, cited by daily Ziarul financiar.
On his last day in office, Guerry said that the Jucu-based facility will be the only producer of Nokia accessories in Europe.
