BT Announces Unlimited Wi-Fi Access via BT Fon and BT Openzone

It has been announced by the Telecommunications giant BT that it will provide its customers with unlimited Wi-Fi access via BT Fon and BT Openzone wireless hotspots across the nation.
Presently, there are around 1.5 million such locations in the UK and by the end of year 2011, the number is set to grow over 2.5 million and this also will provide BT with the largest hotspot base countrywide.

Wi-Fi hotspot from Vodafone
Here comes Vodafone’s rsponse to the Three’s MiFi dongle reviewed here.
I’m talking about the R201 mobile hotspot.
It’s got a Micro SDHC slot and the ability to share an HSDPA 3G connection with up to five devices over 802.11b/g Wi-Fi.
The guys over at ElectricPig.co.uk comment that the specs show ‘a slot for a 16GB microSD card’.
This is not yet clear form what Vodafone says but if so it can be enough space for a shared network.

FCC: Google WiFi intercepts are ‘worrisome’
Google’s (NASDAQ: GOOG) collection of personal information transmitted over WiFi networks is “worrisome,” said a Federal Communications Commission official in the agency’s first public response to the search engine’s May acknowledgment that it intercepted wireless Internet communications.
Joel Gurin, chief of the FCC consumer and governmental affairs bureau, wrote on the commission’s official blog June 11 that the incident raises “important concerns,” but stopped short of chastising Google. Rather, he suggested that consumers read an FCC guide to securing wireless networks.
“Whether intentional or not, collecting information sent over WiFi networks clearly infringes on consumer privacy,” he wrote.
